Thank you for supporting COMIC in 2025!
We've got some great news...
The checks for COMIC 2025 were all initiated and will soon be going out from our banking institution, Fifth Third Bank. Look for them to arrive within the next 7 to 10 days (and be careful, their postcard design may get confused with junk mail).

Here's a recap:
Bowling results will be posted on the Results page soon. This year’s Prize Fund did increase, while continuing to support our charity, Kaleidoscope Youth Center.
-
COMIC25 paid 1:6 in standard tournament events (singles, doubles, team, individual all events), with low to cash starting at $35/person in each standard category
-
We were able to add just a little to the top three in Team All Events (not part nor guaranteed as a standard tournament award)
-
This brought the total event entry prize fund to $22,000 (actually $22,036 due to a 4- way tie for 32 in singles).
-
Also paying 1:6 were optional events, each with 5 divisions – Option Scratch ($2,140), Optional Senior Handicap ($1380).
-
Scratch Masters paid the top 6 if > 12 entries, top 4 if <12 entries ($3580)
This means checks totaling over $29,100 are in the mail! And that’s not counting the winnings distributed from all the raffles!
-
82 bowlers (41%) won money in standard events
-
Another 14 won money in option events, so 43% of bowlers have a check coming
-
FYI – $145 in uncollected winnings from Team Brackets were also mailed with the checks
COMIC is committed to providing you a great event every year:
Did you know… $57 of your $130 entry is designated for the prize fund (200 bowlers, $11,400)
This means COMIC’s year-long efforts raised another $10,600 to reach that $22,000 total and once the bill-dust settles, we will be giving KYC another big donation!
This is only possible due to the support of:
-
Our sponsors, especially our biggest sponsor, AWOL Bar
-
Our bowling house, HP Lanes, that support our efforts year round
-
The committee and volunteers, many who do not bowl or didn’t bowl that weekend
-
The Columbus LGBTQ+ bowling leagues and bowlers who supported fundraisers like Mystery Score, Jester, Euchre and Cornhole tournaments, and other efforts all year.
-
And YOU, the bowlers throughout the weekend with COMIC Cups, Bowling Ball Raffles, the committee-donated Baskets Raffle, Mega and regular Brackets, and those who turned out for Saturday night’s Committee Show,
FINAL REMINDERS:

-
All refunds (less fees) were distributed last week.
-
If you do not receive a check by June 10, or questions regarding the amount (noted breakdowns in the memo), please email the COMIC Treasurer or contact a COMIC Co-Director.
-
Please deposit/cash your checks right away! Due to changing financial institutions, COMIC will not be responsible for or reissue checks not cashed by August 1.
-
From the 40 Bowlers Insurance entries, we will draw a random winner (who did not place in standard events) and they will receive a COMIC 2026 entry.
-
COMIC 2026 will again be limited to 200 bowlers so be sure to register early!
An entry is only complete when paid in full. Therefore, spots are not held and when we reach capacity it goes to the first 200 bowlers paid. In other words, if a team only has 3 of 4 bowlers paid, that spot will be awarded/filled by another paid entry).
We are so glad you joined us this year. COMIC is an LGBTQ+ family and community event. We appreciate your support and look forward to you joining us again for COMIC 2026 (April 24-26, 2026).
